Why we don't rent gear standalone
A camera in untrained hands is a paperweight

Calibration takes hours, not minutes
Our FX-bodies, lenses and lights are dialled in for our specific colour pipeline (S-Log3 → DaVinci Resolve, fixed kelvin range, brand LUTs). A renter would spend half a day chasing the same look — and likely miss.

Insurance only covers our crew
Cinema cameras and pro lights cost as much as a car. Our equipment insurance covers the gear when our operators are on it. A renter taking a Blackmagic 12K to the beach unsupervised? That's not a risk we cover.

And how we resolve them
Still have doubts?
Wait — so you really don't rent gear standalone?
No. Our gear ships with our crew, always. The only exceptions are our own clients adding extras to an existing booking (extra mic, second body) — those go on the same invoice. If you need a pure rental house with self-pickup, we can recommend two reliable ones in Canggu.
What if I just need one camera for an hour, no operator?
We'll quote you the studio + operator at our standard rate (Rp 1M / hr). The operator will just hand you the camera if that's truly what you want — and we'll keep an eye on it. You're not paying extra for the operator; they're already in the rate.
Is the gear list above complete?
It covers the bulk. We also have backup bodies, additional Aputure tubes, modifier sets, V-flats, batteries, cards, cables, cleaning kits and on-set monitors. If you need something specific (Atomos recorder, Cooke prime, follow focus motor) — ask and we'll source it for the shoot.
Do you bring all this on-location?
Yes — for on-site shoots in Canggu / Berawa / Umalas / Ubud, the same kit rolls. The whole vault travels in a 2-van convoy when we shoot brand films or events. What's at the studio is what travels — minus the seamless backdrops, which only live in Canggu.
What's the deposit / insurance situation?
No deposit, no insurance forms for the client. Our gear is on our policy, our operators are responsible. The only thing that costs you extra is gear damaged through deliberate misuse — but that's a rare conversation.
Can I see the gear before booking?
Yes — drop by the studio in Canggu (call ahead). Better: book a 15-minute test record / shoot. We'll set up the exact kit you'd be on for the actual session, and you can A/B-test cameras and mics before paying for a full session.
I have my own camera — can I bring it?
Yes — for podcasts and interviews we routinely have clients bring their A7S III or FX30. We patch your camera into our tethered monitor and audio chain so it matches our other angles. For on-site brand shoots we usually keep to our own bodies for colour consistency.
Do you ever rent to other studios or productions?
Occasionally yes — for established Bali production houses we know personally, by direct quote. Not via this page. If that's you — DM us with your project and dates and we'll see if it's a fit.

Your current rental setup
We fire whatever's making your shoot day painful
Picking up a rental at 9am, returning at 6pm
Half a day lost to logistics. Pickup, paperwork, deposit, return queue, tested-by-renter clauses. We bring the kit pre-tested, you get the full hour for the actual shoot.
A $5,000 deposit on your credit card
Most rental houses freeze a deposit equal to gear value. With us — no deposit, no card hold. The gear is on our insurance, not your nerves.
Renting a camera you've never used
FX6 menus aren't FX3 menus. URSA is its own universe. You'd spend the first hour Googling button layouts. Our operators were already on it last week.
Two cameras that don't colour-match
Renting from two houses (or two days apart) gives you two firmware versions and two custom picture profiles. Editor's nightmare. We run paired bodies on identical settings.
A $400 rental + a $200 freelance operator
Two contacts, two invoices, deposit on one, no-show risk on the other. Our flow is one rate, one team, one delivery.

The gotcha extras at rental houses add 30-40% to the quote. We pack everything that makes the body actually shoot — included.
